Counselor-In-Training Program
Our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is designed for teens (14-15 years old) ready to step into leadership, build confidence, and gain hands-on experience in a fun, dynamic camp setting. Over two weeks, CITs will learn the fundamentals of being an animator, from child development and group management to public speaking and storytelling. Through interactive workshops, mentorship, and real camp experience, they’ll develop key leadership skills, overcome the fear of ridicule, and discover their potential—all while having a blast! Plus, participants will earn their CPR & First Aid certification.
Program Details
Week 1
✔ Camp 101: Learn what makes a great animator—camp culture, leadership skills, group dynamics, and how to create a fun and inclusive environment.
✔ Child Development & Supervision: Understanding different age groups, how to engage campers, and ensuring safety and well-being.
✔ Communication & Leadership: Develop public speaking, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills to lead with confidence.
✔ Letting Go of the Fear of Ridicule: A great animator isn’t afraid to be silly, tell stories, and fully embrace the moment. Through interactive games and exercises, CITs will build confidence, step outside their comfort zones, and learn how to captivate and entertain.
✔ Observation & Mentorship: Shadow experienced animators to see group management and activity facilitation in action.
✔ Fun & Team Bonding: Just like campers, CITs will participate in outdoor activities, games, and challenges to foster teamwork and connection.
Week 2
✔ Hands-On Experience: Assist experienced animators in leading activities, managing groups, and creating engaging camp experiences.
✔ Activity Planning & Facilitation: Work as a team to design and run a small group activity, with coaching and feedback from staff.
✔ Continued Leadership Training: More workshops on engagement techniques, energy management, storytelling, and confidence-building.
✔ One-on-One Coaching: Receive personalized guidance and support from our senior team.
✔ CPR & First Aid Certification: Gain essential life-saving skills as part of the program.
✔ End-of-Program Celebration: Reflect on the journey, recognize growth, and celebrate with a fun CIT-exclusive event!
